WELCOME!

I hope you enjoy looking round my site and find it inspiring, informative and enjoyable.

Here I am!

If you are an older person who thinks life from now on goes downhill because you are retired and past it, I hope this site motivates you to become involved in activities that are meaningful to you.

If you are involved with dance, community development, gerontology, health and wellbeing or social sciences as an academic, student, in the medical professions or allied to the health professions, or in the dance world as a dance-artist/ dancer, dance-facilitator or director this site might inspire you to increase your knowledge, challenge your assumptions and understanding and encourage you to reflect and find out more.

The site includes some of my activities especially about dancing, ageing, learning and community activities. It is a reference site. There are links above and below that will get you to the different pages.

I am delighted to share and introduce you to many of the organisations and people I have had the pleasure to be involved with at various times, especially since leaving full-time work. I have been fortunate to benefit and enhance my life because of the people and organisations included. I sincerely thank them all.

Gill and I have now been friends since 1966. We were students at The Laban Art of Movement Studio, Addlestone, Surrey. Here we are on one of our visits to The British Museum.

You can contact me if you wish. I look forward to hearing from you.

AGEING

It’s no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then.

Alice in Wonderland.

If you can’t fly then run. If you can’t run then walk. If you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward.

Martin Luther King Jr.

………. despite what Freud said, personality is not formed by age 5 or even age 45. After 60, age brings increasingly more adaptive coping mechanisms, a wider social awareness, and better marriages. In short, the study participants who have aged most successfully are those who worry less about cholesterol and waistlines and more about gratitude and forgiveness.

George Vaillant Aging Well 2003

. there is nothing more focussing and inspiring than collaborating with very young people … or the elderly… or just…people, that don’t aspire for technique or skill, but are simply passionate for dance.

Hofesh Shechter 2011

Get in the habit of singing a tune. It will give you new life and fill you with joy.

Get into the habit of dancing. It will displace depression and dispel hardship.

R. Nachman of Breslov

More dance! Towards peace and a better world!

I will get back to you as soon as I can.
